For today's session we will practice wide combination play. Utilizing the 2nd attacker in a wide area and using passing combinations to penetrate forward. Players be guided on how to recognize cues for off the ball movement. In order to combine in any third of the field.

Organization
-30x20 field
-with 2 end zones marked by yellow cones
-attacking team starts with soccer ball each
3 pug goals
Instructions
1. attacking player (#10) must go 1v1 against opposing defender and find a pass to their supporting wide player
2. supporting wide player (#7) must receive on back foot and has 2 touches to score on goal
3. if defender wins ball they must connect with their supporting player
4. after couple rounds switch attacking and defending team roles
5. make it competitive first team to find their supporting player 6, times each player will get 1 MVP point
Coaching Points
1st attacker (player with possession)
-first thought is to penetrate space
-observation of defender
-option to use skill to unbalance defender (risk vs reward)
-head up to find decisive pass
-speed of next movement
2nd attacker (supporting wide player)
-off the ball movement
-read the movements of 1st attacker
-make supporting run vs safe pass option
-align hips to ball to create passing lane
-receiving technique to penetrate
-receive on back foot
Progressions
-add a gk
-1st attacker must combine with 2nd attacker then score for 2 points or go 1v1 for 1 point

Instructions
1.The two players in the center must face off 1v1 to goal with the
option of using their wide player to create a 2v1
2. the wide supporting players are restricted to edge of the field proving a passing lane to the attacker
3. if the defender wins the ball they can transition to score in the opposite goal and can use support player if needed
Coaching Points
-identify open space
-Can we play & penetrate quickly
-use the + 1 to isolate the opposing defender
-Can we use the +1 to disguise individual penetration.
1st attacker (player with ball)
-penetration vs possession
-do i engage defender or find decisive pass to supporting player
-play to feet vs to space
-speed of movement after beating defender or making pass
-communicate verbal vs signal
2nd attacker (support player)
-off the ball movement
-supporting angle to create passing lane
-open body shape to receive ball
-receive on back foot to penetrate with 1st touch
-observation of 1st attacker to connect for next pass
Progressions
-now the wide player can cut in and go to goal
-center player must replace them by overlapping or providing width

-observe game and let players make decisions

Instructions
Stage 1
1. Player A plays a 1-2 with player B
2.As the ball travels to A player C checks out and creates movement in the wide area
3. Player A send a through ball to player C.
4. same passing pattern happens on the opposite side.
5. Player A takes player B spot, B takes C and C follows behind the queue on the other side.
Stage 2
1.Player A will pass the ball to player C who checks in to receive pass
2.Player B will play a through ball too player A who is overlapping playing C into space
3.Player A takes B spot and player B takes C spot
4.Player C will rotate to the other side
