6vs6vs6 split down the centre
1st zone reds + 3 yellows looking to play out (backline) into next grid (front line). Once ball gets to opposite end yellow, yellow plays square pass to other yellow, who then plays long aerial ball into the defensive half.
If reds secure possession after aerial ball = 1 point.
If blues win it in their defensive half, they must play through the lines forward. If they win the aerial ball in the attacking half, they play the neutral yellows (square pass) then prepare for aerial ball into their defensive half.
Coaching Points:
- Backline move up and in (closer together) to prepare for aerial ball
- Backline protect space in front and in behind
- Defenders side on position when anticipating aerial ball (defend space behind and ahead)
- Aggressive to win first contact
- Anticipate and win 2nd ball
- Front 3 defending, protect the centre, pressing aggressively
- Front 3 anticipating 2nd ball dropping in attacking half
