A basic passing and movement drill but it uses one set up ogf pitch with several progressions that can be used for a whole session. The progressions introduce increasing importance of awareness of movement and position of players around them.

Progression 1
Following each pass the players move into a different square - the can move to any square and move in any direction.
COACHING POINT - shout "freeze" at different intervals and set the players the target of having an equal number of players - 4 in this case - whenever the players"freeze".
Ask the players which is the correct square to go into ? THE ONE WITH THE FEWEST PLAYERS !

Progression 2
Following each pass the players move into a different square - the can move to any square and move in any direction.
HOWEVER - PROGRESSION 2 IS THAT PLAYERS CAN NOW ONLY PASS TO PLAYERS IN A DIFFERENT COLOUR BIB

For the final progression the players number themselves 1 to 4
Reset as per the original set up - players passing in order.
Coach calls out a number and the player with that number rotates into the next door square ( move clockwise ) and play 3 v 1 and try to win the ball back and retun with it to their original square.

Set up is as above.
One large square 20m x 20m divided into 4 x 10m x 10m squares.
4 players in each square with 1 ball per square. Players are numbered 1 - 4 and pass the ball in order.
COACHING POINT - tell player to imagine that they are in room and never make 2 consecutive passes with their back to the same "wall".
