Key Aims of session:
Objective:
In this session I aim to improve the ability of our CBs to join in midfield and create an overload.
Football Problem:
Unable to create overloads in midfield when playing out from the back. Play often broke down.

Session Organisation:
Red Gk plays to either CB. Yellow 9 must start in opposite central channel to ball with 1v1 played in wide area on the side the ball is played out fromMidfield 3 for cannot have 3 in one central area at any time.
Reds must play out from CB who drives out to play in the area of directly to any of the top three servers.
Progression:
Central Area removed now more decision making on the CBs with pressure increased from 9.
Team Task:
Red CBs to drive out with the ball to combine, or play directly to front 3
Player Tasks:
1. 3 and 4 to drive out with the ball if they cannot play forwards to create an overload in central areas.
2. 2 and 5 to attack space in front of them when they cannot pass.
Coaches Cues:
I. If opposition drop off and block passing lanes 3 and 4 step out to engage a player on an angle .Find the spare man in front.
II. 3&4 may look to play and continue their run – remaining 3 defenders to get narrow behind with screening 6.

Session Organisation:
Red team to play out from the back from the GK.To score they must make a pass to a player on the other side of the blue line or dribbling across the top line.Encourage the CBs to step out with the ball into midfield.Reds are to play out from the back with CB driving into midfield.
Player Tasks:
1. 3 and 4 to drive out with the ball if they cannot play forwards to create an overload in central areas.
2. 2 and 5 to attack space in front of them when they cannot pass.
Coaches Cues:
III. If opposition drop off and block passing lanes 3 and 4 step out to engage a player on an angle. Find the spare man in front.
IV. 3&4 may look to play and continue their run – remaining 3 defenders to get narrow behind with screening 6.
V. When 7 & 11 clear a space and are followed by their man 2&5 drive into vacated space.
VI. If 6&8 both leave central deep areas with 10 pulling towards opposite corner flag, then 3 and 4 may step inside. Opposite winger to look for diagonal corner flag pass.
VII. Defenders to drive with the ball confident RWTB.
VIII. Head up and when needed a pass to the safe side of a player.

Thirds removed and play free (1v1 still wide). Encourage CBs stepping out.

Session Organisation:
GK plays CB who then plays out from the back to either winger or CM. Then play to 9 who returns to the start.Waiting CB steps in and begins practice again. Yellows drop and add passive pressure as they go.Yellow team to add more pressure. If yellow 9 does not close quickly and yellow 7 is too close to Red 2/5.Then they are encouraged to step out to combine with further forward players.
