Objective: Improve at building out from the goalkeeper's hands and goal kicks
Principles: Create passing options, value the ball, outnumber the opponent in the middle (if the opponent commits more players to the middle when you have the ball, there should be space to play around the outside w/ 7, 11, 3 and 4). Ultimately, the purpose is to score a goal by advancing the ball forward.
Coach the Blue players and yellow GK. Note: the 5 starts even with the ball, with 3 and 4 slightly ahead. Note that they are close enough to each other that they should be able to receive passes with enough time to take a touch before the attackers put them under too much pressure.
1pt for Blue for progressing the ball beyond half field in possession
5 pts for red for scoring a goal on yellow gk
Each time ball goes out, restart with a goal kick or ball in keeper's hands.
Keys: Risk vs reward-->what is a good trade off in this area of the field? (either low risk-->Backs, "drop off" and open hips to receive facing the field, so you can deal w/ oncoming defenders) Is there reward to try and skip the backs with a long pass? "Punts" should be passes, not "get it out"
Adjust field size and number of players according to practice attendance. Can play to a target player beyond the blue line as an option if that makes the numbers work. If it's too difficult for blue, remove a red. If it is too easy for blue, add a red.
