Exercise Task:
Can you create scoring chances after at least one successful 1v1 execution in the middle-final third?
Variation/Progression:
* Can you complete a successful 1v1 move in the final third before scoring?
Player Tasks:
a) Can you go in the opposite direction to how the defender is positioned?
b) Can you pick the right moment/area to take on a defender 1v1?
c) Can you cross into the path of the defender with the ball?
Cues:
a) When you're taking on a defender in a 1v1 situation, can you watch the positioning of his hips and legs and attack the space opposite to that so that they have to readjust their body shape?
b) When you're in a wide area and have one or more central passing options in the defensive-middle third or if someone makes an overlapping run, can you combine with that player to maintain effective possession? But, if you don't have support in the wide area, can you try and beat the defender to go past?
c) When the defender is matching your speed shoulder to shoulder, can you cut into his path with the ball at speed so that you gain a step ahead or if he trips you, you win a foul for the team?
