Main Moment: BPO
Key Principle: Limit opponents goal scoring opportunities.
Football Problem (using the 5W’s):
What: Closing down the distance between us and the opponent..NO Urgency, standing off
Who: #2,#3,#4,#5,#6 and #8
When: outside the penalty box
Where: Our back 3rd
Why: we let our opposition have to much space and time on the ball in our back 3rd.
Football Problem: Our opponents have to much time to combine and create goals scoring opportunities in our back 3rd because we don't show enough URGENCY to close the options quickly.
Session Objective: I aim to improve….. my team's ability to close down our opponents goals scoring opportunities with individual defending speed, angled runs and staying compact.
Team Task: Closed down the space between the ball and attacker as soon as possible denying them any opportunities to combine and score.
Player Tasks: (General / Position-specific):
#3 & #4
-Keep the back line tight and compact through communication and movement,
-Move/slide in the direction of where the ball is played.
-1st player to press the ball
-Can not be beaten in a 1v1.
-If the #9 or #10 move to receives the ball, look to intercept the square/forward ball.
-force them toward the sideline with an angled run in behind our #5 or #2
-Work both sides of the park to create the "ambush"/overload.
#5 & #2
-If the #7 or #11 presses high, can you press them (depending on which side the ball is played)
-Cut off the forward passing lanes on the inside
-Don't let the attacker cut inside unless the support is there.
-Force them towards the sideline
#6 & #8
-When there #10 presses high to support, can you pick up there midfield players #6 & #8 or #10 "in touching distance".
-Hold the space in between to cut off the passing lanes
-If one goes the other holds.

Coaches Cues
