During this session the coachable moments we want to look for are ones on the defensive side of the ball. We want to focus on defending as it is one of our programs largest weekness. Try to find moments where you can freeze games and show players the position they should be in and where the supporting players should be as well.

FUNCTION DETAILS
Set up an area off 40 x 35 yards, split into three zones(representing defenders, midfielders, attackers)
Split the players as your back four, your Mdfs, and forwards on the third line.
Coach will serve the ball to the defenders, that upon first touch, the game is alive, the MDfs, are locked into theirs own zone, however they can shadow the ball movement, the players from zone A (defenders) will move the ball with the objective to break the line of pressure and find the final third. as the ball been switched to the final third successfully they will get a point, (3 BLOCKS OF 5 BALLS) then rotate the players
PROGRESSION 1
As the coach servers the ball, and upon the first touch, two players from the central zone can enter the zone A, and shadow it, as soon the players from zone A recognize the space, they will pierce the line 2 by playing to line 3, as the ball switch they will get the point, and the game initiate again on the opposite side.
PROGRESSION 2
Same as the previous one, but now the defender can tag the player with the ball, if the defender tag the player game is dead, coach play another ball to the other end.
COACHING POINTS
WHERE,WHEN,HOW AND WHY?
where to receive the ball - Why? ( away from the defender, so can avoid pressure on receive to turn)
When to receive the ball - Why ? (after creating the separation from the defender, by reading the trigger from the passing player, eye contact (communication skills) Social skills, if he/she goes to early he/she will receive pressure
How to receive the pass- Why?(body shape, back foot, weight on the pass) can have a better picture where to play, the pass, and how to play the pass, to soft they will intercept, to have the receiving player will need to have a extra touch to control.
