Description

Game Idea Intention (Main Principle)

  • Play with the Intention... of breaking lines though passing around/through opposition. Beating multiple opposition through 1-2 passes.
  • Play with the Intention... of breaking lines through dribbling around opposition. Attracting opposition to a specific space of the field that will expose the opposition team shape to exploit individually and/or as a team.
  • Play with the Goal off breaking lines to create overload moments to find bigger opportunities to maintain possession and/or create goal scoring opportunities.

Concepts/Intention's (Sub-Principle):

  • Technical: Quality of Pass vs. Quantity of Pass - Cues of when group is over passing and effect it has vs. effective passing.
  • Technical: Quality of Dribble vs. Quantity of Dribble - Cues of when a player is over dribbling and effect it has vs. effective dribbling.
  • Technical: Scanning (Reading the Situation) - Looking Up for... Opposition> Space> Teammate(s).
  • Tactical: Connecting with a teammate - Create Numerical Advantages (Plus 1 Rule)
  • Tactical: Disconnecting with a teammate - Create Space to Exploit.

Individual Player Action (PA) /Team Behavior (TB)

  • PA - Passing | Focal Point: Speed of Pass - Key Word: "Pace in the Pass"
  • PA - Receiving | Focal Point: Preparing your touch away from Pressure - Key Word: "Play away from Pressure"
  • PA - Dribbling | Focal Point: Enjoy & Protect the ball
  • PA - Scanning | Focal Point: Ability to read problem and identify solutions
  • TB - Playing with a thought process (Proactive vs. Reactive) | Focal Point: Player's ability to take ownership of the game vs. Letting external factors push them.

KPI's of Training Session (Player/Team Outcome):

  • Individually; players are passing/dribbling with an intention to play effective. Player's understand that they can break lines by going forward, laterally, backwards. The benefits of breaking lines individually can impact the team's ability to move the ball forward.
  • Collectively; group is finding more success in keeping possession of the ball and creating opportunities to move the ball to any part of the field.
