Football/Soccer Session (Difficult): 4-2-3-1 Rondo

OBJECTIVE

Improve positional play, quick decision making and passing accuracy within the 4-2-3-1 formation. 

SETUP

Red team setup in a 4-2-3-1. LB, CB, RB, LM & RM players are locked into their zones. GK, CDM, CM/CAM & ST can move into different zones (AS MARKED OUT ABOVE) to create overloads in that area. Only 2 green players (defenders) are allowed in any 1 zone at a time, forcing them to work together and rotate effectively to apply pressure and win the ball.

FOCUS & OBJECTIVES

• RED TEAM - To maintain their shape while using the players marked above to create overloads in each zone. Focus on passing, good body shape when receiving a pass to open up the next pass & movement on & off the ball.
• GREEN TEAM - Pressing, defensive rotations & covering gaps to force errors.
• On both teams communication is key, if we get this right and bring it to a matchday the system will work both on the defensive and attacking side.
