Here are some basic thoughts on playing principles. You need to know these, and understand your role within them. The position you have given me will be a good starting point, but you also need to understand the roles of some of the players around you.

On 16 yard hits for the opposition, we try to encourage them to either:
- play the short outlet pass (to their LH);
- or into the 'press pocket'
This requires the front 6 (CF; RW; LW; IL; IR and CM) to play in 'zones' where they put pressure on passes into certain areas, and stop the ball going into those areas through their presence (rather than follow people around in a man-to-man marking way)

1) We switch to a back 3
2) With a two player screen in the middle of the park
3) Our Inside forwards become (slightly deeper) wingers
4) The role of the 3 forwards becomes to protect the centre of the pitch

Formation - 2:3:2:3
We are playing 2:3:2:3 as a basic standard formation
THIS MEANS:
2 full backs - RB and LB
2 half backs - LH and RH
1 centre midfielder - CM
2 Inside Forwards - IL and IR
3 Forwards - LW; CF and RW
Broadly speaking this means we have 5 forward (all forward and IF) and 5 Defenders (CM; HB and FB)
Depending on the stage of the game we can increase the number of Forwards, by promoting a HB or CM higher up the pitch (creating overloads)
