Around the Cone (10 mins)

Session Topic: Attacking Principles

Ball control, Passing/recieving, Communication, Conditioning

Stage: Stage 1

Set Up:

5 x 20 yard channel (Scaled to age and level of play), 5 cones per channel, 2 - 3 players per group

Time:

10 mins (1 minute working sets, to 1 to 2 minutes rest)

Organization:

2 or 3 players per group. One player works at a time. Player starts by running around far cone, on the way back they will recieve the ball in a pre-determined way and play it back. They will jog back to the start line and repeat the process for 1 minute.

Coaching Points:

Ball Control (Soft Touch, Bring the ball in like an egg toss)

Passing/Recieving (Locked ankle, toe pointed up, inside of foot, chest over ball, eye contact with partner before looking back at ball)

Communication (Eye contact, Verbal, Hand Signals) *BE SPECIFIC*

Conditioning (Pace of Play, Go at game speed when running around cone)

Adaptions:

Every time a player succesfully controls the ball and plays a good pass back they 5 points

Every time a player loses control of the ball oustide of their zone -5 points
