Game Objective: Split the defenders with a pass and play to target.
Topic: Create Gaps and Skip Lines
Phase: Attacking
Problem: We need to get the ball to the middle third.
Who: All
Where: Defending third
When: the defenders create enough space between them to make a firm pass
What: Attackers (red) must: 1) position themselves between the defenders. 2) Scan the field before they get the ball and decide if they can play a through ball to split the defenders, if not they play
Why: to move the ball up the field.
Layout: Have three or four grids; 1) 16x16 2) 14x14 3) 12x12 4) 10x 10 no goals
Restrictions: 6v3; 2 touch; 15:1
Scoring: Each split equals one point; each recover equals one point.
Game: Rondo. Must split the defenders with a pass to earn a point. Once the six receives the ball, they play it back the other way.
Coaching Points:
Create width & depth
-Complimentary movements: high/low(same line) & R/L(connecting lines)
-Draw defenders: combo, 1/2 drive, or layoff
-Timing of movements after drawing defenders
-Scanning on reception

Why: to move the ball up the field.
Layout: 25 x 25; no goals
Restrictions: 7v7 ; 2 touch; 2:12:1; Three teams; defenders can not defend bumpers.
Scoring: One point for split, recovered ball, or goal.
Game: Use bumpers;
Coaching Points:

Time: 30 Minutes
Organisation:
-50x30 pitches x2.
-Split players into teams of 7 (3 on each pitch).
-Red and blue inside with yellow acting as common on outside with 1 inside.
Exercise:
-Play 7v7+7 with team in posession being able to use the yellow team.
-Play 8-10 minute periods then switch teams around.
