Players are divided into two teams (Blues and Reds) at the start of the practice.
2 players from the same team are placed outside the playing area on opposite sides as shown while the other 2 players from each team starts inside middle area marked with the blue cones. The players in the middle of the square (blue cones) move outside of the square to receive the ball from team mate (feeders), upon receiving on half turn they dribble through the area (blue square) and pass the ball to team mate on opposite cone, to receive back and repeat. Players switch roles on coach's call.
Coaching Points:
• Body shape to receive on half turn - Players should open their body and receive the ball on their back foot to play forward.
• Awareness of ball, space, team mates & opposition - Players are encouraged to check their shoulders and look for the space in the area.
• Be positive and look to play forward - Players are encouraged to take their first touch into space and play forward.
• Communication.

Instructions:
This skill practice is a progression from the tehnical practice with 1 ball in play, blues play against reds as they both still 2 have two players on the outside and 2 players in the middle of the area. Practice start with the coach passing to one of the players on the outside cones in this case blue, a blue player from middle area can come outside of the area to receive the ball from the team mate on the cone, upon receiving the ball must then be played through the middle area either by dribbling or passing to a team mate in the middle before playing to the opposite team mate on the opposite side. 2 defenders must stay in central area (blue square) and attempt to win possession. If defenders win possession they can pass to a team mate on the outside and become the attacking team.
Point system - 1 point for every successful pass to the a team mate on the outside. 3 points for playing through team mate in the middle. Players switch roles on coach's call.
Coaching Points:
• Body shape to receive on half turn - Body shape should be open and players should be able to see the player in possession and their intended passing target (shoulders pointing to player in possession and player who will receive).
• Awareness of ball, space, team mates & opposition - Players should be aware of the space and positioning of team mates and opposition players, so that they can move to receive the ball or to create space for a team mate to receive.
• Be positive and look to play forward - Use combination play to play through the square and play forward quickly and be willing to receive both in space and under pressure.
• Communication amongst team mates.
Progression:
1. The four blue cones are removed and the game progresses into a small sided game.

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Organization:
Set up as shown.
Instructions:
2 x teams of 3 plus goalkeepers. One team (blue) begins in a 3v1 and they must make 3 passes before attempting to finish at goal. If they score, defending team (red) can introduce another defender for 3v2 and then 3v3 if they score again. Whenever the defending team win possession they can score in the opposition goal and become the attacking team. If attacking team fails to score on first attempt when playing 3v1, they get a second chance to restart play playing 3v1. No second chance on 3v2 as defending team would be allowed to attack with a 2v3 attacking underload. Goalkeepers can be used to pass and combine.
The coach add a number of variations to progress or regress the game when deemed necessary.
Coaching Points:
• Body shape to receive on half turn - When possible, players should be moving into positions to receive the ball and play forward quickly, by adopting an open body shape to receive on the back foot.
• Awareness of ball, space, team mates & opposition - Players need to continually scan so that they can take up positions to unbalance the opposition and either receive the ball or create space for a team mate to receive. Players should focus on offering passing lines to a team mate in possession.
• Patient build up play - Players need to be technically competent to secure possession under pressure and recognise the opportunity to penetrate the opposition and create goal scoring chances.
Progressions:
1. Attacking team has to make 4 passes before attempting to score.
2. Attacking team are only allowed to take maximum of two touches.
3. Free play - 4v4 with all conditions removed.
