Two fun drill filled with tehnical challenges for U8s, starting with dribbling and running with the ball before a final session in shooting

Dribblng (20 mins)

Equipment 6 blue cones, 6 yellow cones, 4 white cones, 4 red cones, 5 red bibs, 5 yellow bibs, balls + 10 gates

Two square areas set up with two sets of players depending on player numbers dribbling, key is to look for players to perform the correct tehnique of dribbling especially keeping their heads up, close control and use of all surfaces of the foot.

Progression add gates and then each player keeps a count of how many gates they get through in 30 seconds before comparing scores with the other team.

Challenge both teams to beat their scores within the same alloted time.

Progression to running with the ball when you blow the whistle players from yellow team rub with ball into red square through the yellow channel and red players do the smae via the blue channel first team to get to the other square with the ball under control win, coach again needs to look control of the ball when running with the ball and keeping head up also players need to make suere they do not run into each other.

Shooting (20 mins)

Equipment - 6 white cones, 4 blue cones, 8 flat cones, 2 ladders and balls

2 coaches required for this set up - Players start off in their groups one group on the left one on the right, players take in turns to weive in and out of the cones before going around the blue cone. When players reach the blue cone they must perform two star jumps before they get the the next blue cones, once players reach the ladders the players must try do high knees across the ladders before receiving a pass from the coach in the shaded area. From here the players will be performing a turn, pushing the ball from out of their feet by taking a touch before trying to take a shot first time without letting the ball stop.

Progressions put cones in the goal and ask players to aim for the corners, have a goalkeeper in goal if one is available and offer proper goal keeper training during the same session.

Put a defender in who ccan come off the goal line once the player receives the pass from the coach

Coaches to look for good control before the turn from players and the correct shooting tehnique with standing foot in the correct place using the laces to shoot with eye on the ball, body over the all not forgetting to follow through. make sure contact with middle of the ball.

(If only one coach available) use the final progression to start where you have one team running the drill as normal and the other team running the drill in defensive mode. where after they complet the ladder they go back onto the goal line and defend against the attacking player
