Warm-up: Two lines of players facing each other. Each player between two cones and with a ball. Players will do the footskills (coerver move) the coach will show them. They stay in the spot doing the move. When coach gives a sign (visual like raising a cone or a vocal one) players dribble to the opposite side, avoid the player coming and start doing the moves again (if we have too many kids and there is a line, player give the ball to the next player and go to the end of the line).

Make sure the players are using both feet to do it.

Coerver move list:

  • SI- pull ball back with bottom of foot and then hit ball forward with top of the foot, switch feet.
  • SII- pull ball back with bottom of foot and then hit ball forward with inside of foot, switch feetRoll 1-2- put right foot on right side of the ball. Roll ball with the inside of the right foot towards left side of the body. Complete a two-touch pendulum starting with the left foot. (Left foot then right foot) Ball should then be on left side of body, roll ball with inside of left foot towards right side of body. Complete a two-touch pendulum starting with right foot. Repeat
  • Step over 1-2-3- Place ball in front of right foot. In a circular motion swing right foot and leg around ball from left side of the ball to the right side of the ball. Be sure not to touch ball while swinging foot around ball (step over). Then complete a 3-touch pendulum starting with the right foot (right, left, right). Ball should be in front of the left foot. With left foot and leg swing foot around ball starting from the right side of the ball to the left. Complete a 3-touch pendulum starting with left foot (left, right, left). Ball should be in front of right foot. Repeat
  • Weaver Push- Place ball in front of feet. With the right foot swing foot and leg around ball from right side to the left side of the ball. Outside of right foot should be next to the ball. With outside of the right foot hit ball towards the right side of the body. Move body towards ball and complete a 3-touch pendulum starting with the right foot. Ball should be in front of the body again. Step over ball with left foot and leg from left side of the ball to the right side of the ball. Hit ball with outside of the left foot toward the left. Complete a 3-touch pendulum starting with the left foot. Repeat

Now, the players, using the same setup, will dribble the ball forward and do one of the moves coach will show them. Both lines move at the same time and must go to the same direction (either right or left). Players will perform the move that coach will show them. If players are having issue about when to move, coach can put a cone in between them to show where is the turning point.

  • Pull Back- dribbling in any direction plant left foot next to ball, reach right foot around to the far side of the ball and pull ball back behind the body with the inside of the right foot. Then push ball away from body with the outside of the left foot. Or switch order of the feet.
  • Head and Shoulders Fake- dribbling forwards take right foot, leg, head and shoulders and lunge towards right side of the ball. Then dribble ball in a 45-degree angle away from the body with the outside of the left foot. Or switch order with feet.
  • Step OverHead and Shoulders Fake(half scissors)- dribbling forwards step over ball with the right foot from left side of the ball to the right side of the ball. Plant foot with head and shoulders facing the right next to right side of the ball. Then push ball in a 45-degree angle away from the body with the outside of the left foot. Or switch the order.
  • La croqueta: With your stronger foot, shift the ball to the inside of your other foot as quickly as possible while retaining control of it, as the ball arrives at your weaker foot, push it forward in almost the same movement with the inside of your foot.

In the last part, they will put in a game situation the moves they have been practicing:

One line with a ball and the opposite without it: line with ball pass the ball and become a defender. Player who received the ball will attack trying to beat the defender and get in the end zone.

Points system:

- player beat the defender: +1

- beat the defender using one of the moves they practiced in the session: +5

  • To make it more competitive, losing team will do an "extra-work". Example: 50 toes taps + 50 foundations.
Time:10-12 min
