Warm up (10 mins)

Set up

2 squares 18*18, with a ball each (6  in each square)

Organisation

Players move with the ball freely inside their square.

Square A: With laces

Square B : Using the Inside

Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):

  • At the whistle, players stop the ball and look for another one in the second square and change the surface of the foot used.
  • Roll the ball with laces

Key points:

  • Make contact with laces/ Inside/Soles 
  • Head up

Technical Drill (20 mins)

Set up:

Set up a playing area as shown 35*25 with two end zones, the furthest one larger than the nearest one which is the zone between the two red lines , channel width as mentioned depending on the ability of players and a ball each.

Organisation

 A ball each, players have to run with their starting position to the end of the blue end zone and stop the ball inside, in the beginning, players are allowed to run with the ball freely in any channel, on their way back they have to use the week-foot.

Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):

  • Now, as coaches  we are able to see who's losing the ball and hitting other's ball and who's keeping control of it , assign 2/3 players in the 5m channels and 3/4 players in the 7m channels, where they have to run with the ball and stop it in the nearest/smallest end zone (red lines) , switch players when needed
  • Add a number of large cones inside each channel that players have to avoid and keep stopping the ball in the end zone, each player has 2 lives , if he touch the large cone or fail to stop the ball in the end zone he lose one, if he lose the 3 he's eliminated and have to keep running with the ball in the second large end zone.

  • Move quickly

Interventions will be individual more than collective and stopping the whole practice, i would also ask a player to demonstrate.

Skill Drill (20 mins)

Set up

Keeping the same as the initial drill and add a line with pitch marker or cones as shown, to split the area in two with one def in the first square and 2 in the second


Organisation:

Adding an opposition this time in each square, players will have to dribble or avoid defenders in each square and stop the ball in the end zone, play gain by starting dribbling 2 def and then 1 def, if Def wins the ball they pass it to the coach who git it back to the player and start again. playing area is between the two red cones lines.

Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):

  • Alternat the space, by making it bigger or smaller following the performance of the players.
  • Add large cones in the first square
  • The player losing the ball has to start again trying to dribble the def with a time limit (10 seconds)

SSG (30 mins)

Set up:

30*30 area with goals as shown, one mini goal in one end and 3 small small gates/goals in the opposite end, spread gates around the pitch , can be a normal gate or two gates in one as shown.


Organisation:

On team scoring in 3 goals and one team in the mini goal, switch team after 7 min.

Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):

  • Tighten the area after 15 min of play. (Challenges below)
  • Move to a normal game for the last 7 min

Challenges, Conditions or Targets:

  • RWB through the gates 
  • If the player RWB through the gates placed inside the pitch before scoring, the goal counts for two
  • Challenge players to discuss between them and choose an opponent when out of possession for a 1v1
