THEME: Striker Movement TOPIC: Combination Play to finish.
AIMS:
- Develop combination plays in front of goal.
- Split defenders to create space & set shots.
- Improve the effectiveness of the strikers movement.

Set up: Half pitch, with agility equipment laid out as shown in the diagram.
Procedure: Player 1 begins by performin hop holds follwed by a slalom through the passing arcs. They then run around the top pole to receive the ball off player 3 and proceed forward dribbling around the 2 poles. P1 then play a pass to P2 and makes a run inside or makes an over lap to run onto the pass through the manneqins by P2. Rotations 1-2-3-1.
Progression: Player 1 and Palyer 2 play a 1-2 pass.

Using a half pitch the drill begins with a combination pattern. Player 1/A passes to the centre midfielder (2/B) who dribbles towards the striker (3/C) and passes inside for the stiker to run onto the ball and shoot outside/inside the box.
Rotation: 1-2-3/A-B-C
Coaching points:
- Check runs (pull defender away to create space behind/inside of them)
- Weight of pass (accuracy and speed)
- First touch (set up pass/shot)
- Shooting techniques (head over the ball, firm ankle use of different part of foot)

To progress this exercise we now look for a 1-2 pass between the centre mid (2/B) and the striker (3/C).

- Check runs (pull defender away to create space behind/inside of them)
- Weight of pass (accuracy and speed)
- First touch (set up pass/shot)
- Shooting techniques (head over the ball, firm ankle use of different part of foot)

Next progression is the Centre mid (2/B) bounces the pass back to the 1st player (1/A) who plays the ball forward to the striker (3/C) who plays a 1-2 with the Centre Mid (2/B).

Set up: 30"x50" pitch with full size goals. 20" end zone with goalkeeper, 2 defenders and 2 strikers. Play zone with 5v5 + goalkeeper.
Procedure: Attacking team try to play out of the play zone linking up with the 2 strikers. Only the supporting midfielder (10) can break forward into the end zone to create a 3v2 over load. Defending team if they win the ball attack their opponents goal.
Progression: Take away end zone and allow free play.
Coaching points:
- Distance between the front two strikers, pull defenders apart.
- Strikers to pin defenders back to create space in front.
- Decision making from supportive midfielder (10) drive forward, play ball through.
- Support from midfield (6&8).

Set up: 30"x50" pitch with full size goals.
Procedure: Teams play 8v8 game, once a team has a 1 goal lead they must play keep ball and can only attack their opponents goal once they have equalised or gone in front.
Progression: Free play.
Coaching points:
- Develop combination play in front of goal.
- Strikers pinning the defenders back to give more length and space.
- Support from midfield and decision making, drive forward or pass.
- Moving the ball and opponents to set shots at goal.

Warm up: 5v2 Rondo (15 mins)
Set up: 15"x20" area 3 players placed out on 3 sides with a 2v2 inside.
Procedure: The teams of 2 look to keep posession utilizing the 3 players on the outside.
Progression: The 3 players can utilize the free side of the area but only one player can occupy a side at a time.
Coching points:
- Movement to draw opponents and break away to create space to receive the ball.
- 'La Pausa' try and force opponent movement by holding position to see the move they make.
- Limit touches, don't dribble into trouble or allow time for defenders to recover.
