Short Long (15 mins)

Aim:

  • Improve players passing & receiving

Organisation:

  • 15 x 10 grid with 2 cones in the middle (as shown)
  • 2 players on cone 1 & 4
  • 1 player on all other cones
  • 2 grids going at one time

Method:

  • Simple passing pattern.
  • Ball follows the sequence shown (1-2-3-4-5-6- repeat)
  • Players follow their pass
  • Second ball is introduced at cone 4

Coaching Points:

  • Weight and direction of pass
  • Player waiting needs to pull away from the defender(cone)
    • Timing of this movement
  • Receive the ball on the back to to play in behind the defender
    • Open body shape
