APE Progression

How it works:

  • Game A, B and C are the same game but progressed
  • Overall aim in both games is to move the ball from one white line to the other
  • Game A: completely unoppposed
  • Game B: Defenders can only operate on the dotted line
  • Game C: Defenders can move in the same space as the attackers
  • Players on the white lines can pass to the other white line if option is available
  • Players on the inside work for 45-60 seconds each (3 round: normal, faster, fastest)
Looking for:
  • Aware: Prescan (checking for other players/balls), players constantly checking each shoulder for awareness
  • Prepare: Show where the ball is wanted with stick, get ready to receive
  • Execute: Receive, turn and pass, first touch is key.
CHANGE IT:

  • Area - Bigger/smaller depending on success
  • Numbers - More or less defenders depending on success
  • Equipment - 2nd ball in each game increases decision making and prescan need.
GK options:
  • Defender in the centre: to work on movement
  • Passer on the outside/white line: to work on kicking
