"Why Not?"

Attacking Free Kick (R side/30 yards out outside of six yard width)

Set Up:

  • Three players over the ball; rest of attacking players build the far side looking for a cross.
Description
  • 7 and 11 run over the ball; 11 makes a run wide of the all, 7 runs towards the inside toward the goal. 10 plays a through ball to 11 who looks to cross to 7 in front of goal. The other attacking players make movements away from the action to create more space for 7.
Coaching Points

  • 10 must play ball with correct pace to beat the outside man of the wall without going too far out of bounds.
  • Attacking player in crowd cannot get too antsy and get into the 7's running lane.

Set Up:

  • Four players aligned in a box formation
    • Two players about 5 yards apart on the six yard line shifted towards the back half of the goal
    • Two players about 5 yards apart on ten yards from goal shifted towards the back half of the goal
  • One player on the goal keeper; two players outside the box to make it less crowded
  • Inswinging Corner is preferred
Description
  • Corner kick taker initiates the play by raising and lowering arm. Players on the back post work horizontally as players in front work in the opposite direction. Front players (4, 5) scrape by the defenders of the back post players (9, 8) causing separation. Ball is ideally landing at the front half of the goal for 9 or 8 to finish the movement.
Coaching Points
  • Ball in must clear the first man
  • Screening players must not foul and immediately look back towards the ball for any rebounds/loose balls.
