Closed Reception

Player A starts with the ball as passes to B who has lead from the red cone. As the ball is arriving, coaching points to prep the body for critical instance. Player B performs a closed reception, then curls to the left or to the right around the cones, leading away from an opponent. B passes to C who repeats and takes a shot.

Progression:
The same sequence is completed after each player has completed 3 or 4 attempts at the drill. In the next phase, instead of cones to post up and curl around after a closed reception, a *passive defender* will intentionally block one direction with their stick, forcing the receiver to prescan and look before completing the reception. The defender will allow the player to receive and bypass them after they have chosen their side. Curl and complete the same sequence.

Rotation - A --> Defender --> B --> Defender --> C

4v4 mini game

4 vs 4 mini game with neutral players on the outside.

Rules:
Possession hockey within the box. To score a point, the ball must be passed from someone within the box to an outside player, and received by you or your teammate, and given back to the same outside player. This forces a closed reception and highlights the importance of receiving the ball correctly so they may pass the ball back quickly. After a successful point, the outside player can pass the ball back into the circle to repeat the processes.

Switch the outside players in groups after x amount of minutes or certain number of points.
