Warm Up (10 mins)

Description

Adjust area based on player numbers (increase size to limit changes of directions and encourage more movement to increase blood flow) 

Players on outside feed in ball to middle players. 45s of work then swap over.

1) on the floor passing

2) inside volley

3) laces volley

4) half volley

5) header

Gradually increase requirement of communication. Allow first 1-2 sets to get the dust off but still nailing basics of body shape, weight of pass, angle to receive, scan, changing tempo.

Last 2-3 should be louder and livelier, no need to sprint around in middle but must see a change in tempo of runs

Description

  • 5 cones set up at 45 degree angles, 5 metres apart
  • Players sprint to each cone and come to a complete stop at each, but facing the direction they are going in next. This is to prepare for decelerating and also more aggressive change of direction work later.
  • 6 reps per player
