Set Up: Just over half the field; One large goal; three mini goals at half. Supply of balls beside the large goal. Enforce a retreat line.
Players: 13-14 players. 7 red (plus GK) v 6 blue.
Description: Play starts with the GK playing out the back. Red look to attack the mini goals by dispersing looking to build up play through their midfielders. Blue can win the ball back and score on the large goal.
Key Factors:
1. Quality of first touch/pass.
2. Timing of the run.
3. Visual cues: #6 or 8 opening up to play forward;
4. Communication.
5. Central and vertical movement from the midfielders to support player in possession (CB vs. FB or other mifielder).
5. Look for combination play opportunities.

Set Up: Half field at North Park. Balls along the outside and in the goals.
Players: 2 teams - 8 outfield and 1 goalkeeper for each team on field. Players manage any substitutions.
Description: Play 9v9 (including GK). All regular rules apply, including retreat line. Each team plays 1-4-3-1.
Key Factors:
All coaching points from the session - focus on first touch away from pressure and that first look. Good overall shape - looking to play in between the lines. Lots of communication! Focus on midfielder movement and support as teams build up play.

Set Up: 5*5 grid set up just at the top of the 18 yard box. Supply of balls just outside the grid. One large goal.
Players: all (split into 2 or 3 teams). 2 Gk's.
Description: Timed shooting exercise. Teams have 2 minutes to score as many goals as possible. Shooting team follows a defined sequence: pass across grid, layoff and shot. Team(s) not shooting must retrieve balls and ensure the shooting team does NOT run out. Points are lost if balls run out. After two minutes, switch the teams.
Key Factors:
Head over ball.
See your target.
Shoot with laces and different parts of the foot.
Place the shot.

Set Up: 35*30 Grid, split into thirds. Middle zone designated as the "combination corridor". Supply of balls outside. Two goals or 4 mini goals.
Players: Two teams of 6 players (5v5+GK). Adapt as needed.
Description: Teams look to play through the thirds and score, looking to combine in central areas. Within the middle zone, players are restricted to two touch. No limit on touches in the end zones.
Progression:
Alter the width of the middle zone.
Increase/decrease the number of touches as needed.
Remove conditions and play a regular game.
Key Factors:
Scanning habits, especially in central areas. Are players aware of space/teammates/opposition and next move?
Quick speed of play - ability to combine.
Movement and support to allow for combination play in the central third.
Stategies to build up play through the corridor - will we play slowly or quickly? How many passes?
