Objectives/Targets

Rationale
This practice is deigned to inform players are key principles to use when building out from the back from goal kick scenarios. The practice begins from a goal kick scenario, players will use different principles of movement in relation to key triggers set out by the goal keeper. The team must make a successful build and attack space in beyond the back line. Once the ball is played beyond the red zone, front line players will go 4v4 against the defensive back line and will have a maximum of 10 seconds to score. Once the play goes dead, players must rest to build from the goal kick, if the opposition win possesison, they will have a maximum of 12 seconds to score.

Block 1 (5 mins): Open play
Block 2 (5 mins): Inverted FB Build
Block 3 (5 mins): Inverted winger build
Block 4 (5 mins): Striker Drops to make box
Block 5 (5 mins): Open Play
Roles and responsibilities
Build phase 1: invert the FB (3 box 3 shape)
Centre back: They will need to always start in a wide position to allow the midfield two to stay narrow and combine short to play long.
Fullback: They will need to start just above the 18 yard box and drop when stickers press the two centre backs, during the first pass, the opposite fullback will roll inside while the midfield rotate to create a box
CM: Will rotate clock wise (ball side) to create space for opposite full back to roll into the pocket and ball side midfielder to go high and create a box shape
Wingers: opposite winger roll out wide while ball side winger stays high and wide when fallback gets on the ball.
Striker: When the winger rolls out, the striker will make channel runs to attempt to receive a ball beyond the back line,.
Build Phase 2: Invert Left Winger (3 box 3 shape
GK: Place ball on right corner of the 6 yard box
CB: Position wide on opposite sides of the 18 yard box
Fallbacks: LB goes high and wide inline with RW. RB Stays inside to build as back three.
CM: complete a rotation anti clockwise where 10 drops to build with double pivot, ball side midfielder goes high, opposite midfielder across, left wing enters midfield to become box.
Winger: RW out wide FB in, LW into midfield, LB Goes high and wide
ST: Stays wide, looks to create channel runs, working in and around the centre circle.
Build Phase 3 (Striker Creates Box 4 box 2 shape)
GK: Starting position opposite side of the 6 yard box to build with CB
CB: Places ball on left side of the 6 yard box. LCB starts opposite to GK, RCB starts on the 18 yard box. Until Possession CM are released, LCB works inside width of 18 yard box.
FB: LB starts in line with corner of 18 yard box, RB starts higher in between the midfield box.
CM: rotate clockwise, 10 drops into double pivot, opposite midfielder moves across, ball side midfielder goes high and ST drops into box.
Winger: LW and RW work into half spaces to narrow up the back 4.
ST: Drops into opposite 10 position.
Coaching points
- If strikers press wide, midfielders look to receive inside. If they press narrow, can the receive outside.
- Identify key triggers EG: passes/movements.
