The objective of this training session is to teach the players how to utilize the PIVOT during the BU to break lines, creating numerical advantage at our defensive 1/3 to facilitate the BU, yet in possession creating interchanging positions and movements to create space in order to break lines successfully, during transition out of possession, get narrow and compact, use the 4 D's and counter to press.

DETAIL INSTRUCTIONS
The play starts from the GK, upon eye contact the PIVOT will create a separation from his marker and create an option for the GK to play it from the back. (The PIVOT) will create numerical superiority with the two CBs and Wing back from the strong side. Only the RED PIVOT can apply pressure on the PIVOT.
VARIATIONS
Interchange positions between the CB/Winger backs
PROGRESSION/REGRESSION
The PIVOT upon receive the pass, play back to GK and GK tries to break the line using the wide players
The regression would be, patience on BU moving the ball to move the opponent

DETAIL INSTRUCTIONS
Eliminate the box, and add two counter goals at the end of the grid, The PIVOT from the BLUE team is free to go anywhere, the RED team acting as defenders and press to counter, the BLUE team try to break lines and score at the counter goals that simulates the wide players receiving the ball.

ORGANIZATION
Area of 45 yards x 35 yards
12 players maximum, balls, cones, color vests
DETAIL INSTRUCTIONS
Set up a square box about 5 yards from the 18 yards box of 10 x 10 yards, place two players within, representing the PIVOTS, the remaining players at position specific zone.
Play starts from the GK, that upon default the defenders will take shape (DEPTH,WIDTH,LENGTH), the main focus will be the PIVOT dropping in to facilitate the BU.
The PIVOT will RTT and play it wide to the FB that went higher during the BU, the FB will procedure with a simple pattern to the inverted winger, that will receive and play the pass to the #8 acting as another PIVOT and the play will follow as the pattern above.
COACHING POINTS
- Read the triggers ( don't move to early)
- Body shape to receive the pass
- Movement with and without the ball
- Receive on the back foot
VARIATIONInitiate the pattern at the opposite side alternating playPROGRESSION/REGRESSION
Two touches minimum, Movement between the CB and the Winger back from the opposite side, as soon the PIVOT receives the pass, He should think about play it forward as quickly as possible.
