11v11
Blue coached team (C) 4-2-3-1
Red Non Coached (NC) 4-4-2
Duration 25 Minutes
Varied start points
Throw ins but no other set plays
Coached team to play direct five seconds to score in opposition half, eight seconds from own half
Non coached team to play as normal game.
Coached #6/1 return to the game both need to affected
Non Coached #10 return to the game
Revisit problem and solution from HPP
General Themes for HPP & 11v11
#9 In Possession operate between the width of the 6yd box
#1 To play direct
Defensive principles
When ball central defend box width maximum
Deny time and space
Stay compact vertically and horizontally
Show outside at all times
Ball goes backwards we step in relation to the ball
Against two strikers we endeavour to stop crosses into our box
Clinical in our Critical defending
Ball goes past individual or unit we recover and repair
Problem 2 - Hopefully able to do this in HPP
(NC) CM drop in between CB's and (NC) #10 drop in to Midfield
Solution
#9/10 to affect the (NC) 5/6 & 4
Showing out at all time occupying the 4 and press from the 4 to lock 5 or 6 outside to make play predictable. As the ball is played to the spare centre back #9 to press as HPP and the #10 to support inside and affect the 4 leaving the opposite CB. Danger is when the ball goes past and the dropping CM returns to his unit. Really important his position is tracked and communcated. Recover and repair.
Ball side winger coached stay narrow/compact to affect CM and stop the ball to winger. As the ball travels further lock the ball in one side.
Opposite side winger narrow and compact leaving furthest player away but in a position to transition.
#4#8 deal with CF dropping in and remaining CM
#5#6 ball side goal side aware of the threat in behind
Ballside Full back ready to press and engage as ball moves
Opposite side Full back to be compact ready for the CF that dropped to return so we can defend with an overload.
#1 Start position to affect the ball over the top
Problem 3
Wingers rotating in side in to Central areas
Solution 3
#7/11 stay narrow compact force play out
#2/3 to allow runner inside, communicate to their wingers to shut passing lanes and deep lyers to do a job and a half.
Units to be really compact - Affect everyone Gk high to allow #5/6 to stay high. #7/11 might need to drop with formation animating to a 4-4-1-1
Important we get pressure on the ball not to allow play to develop, force the ball wide or backwards.

Half Pitch Practice - Pressing (15 mins)
Half Pitch Practice
Coached (C) team missing Centre back #6 and goalkeeper #1
Non Coached (NC) team missing a Centre forward
Ball always starts with (NC) GK but varied - Goal kicks three different positions and from hands/feet in open play.
(NC) To build attacks and try to play through (C) to score in three goals. two goals for scoring centrally but they have to be over half way to score.
(C) To play direct - must play forward, if they dont the ball gets returned to (NC) GK
Duration 17/18 minutes

Problem 1
#9 Underloaded Dealing with a 2v1 overload to affect opposition playing out
Solution a
#9 Start position to force play one way and make play predictable, engage on first pass. Angle and speed of approach, body shape, pressing which foot?
#7/11 Start position - Shut passing lanes in to oppositions wingers enabling #2/3 to stay in shape.
Ball side central midfielder a job and a half. Screen opposition CF but in contact with opposition CM
#10 to affect ball side opposition CM
Ballside Centre back (C) to be ballside and goalside and a little deeper.
What if?
Bounce out to opposite centre back through gk?
Pivot press #10 to engage #9 to recover and repair
Triggers of #10 to identify when to press. Angle and speed of approach, pressing foot? Using our defensive principles.
If the ball goes back we step up in relation to the ball.
#10 Identifies the bounce out and presses locking out;
#9 Recover and repair centrally affecting (NC) CM
Pressed side by the 10 is our left side so when he presses and succesfully shuts off the switch. #11 to wait for the pass to opposition RB and press aggressively, try to arrive as the ball arrives to regain. If late then lock further out. Important that as ball moves from (NC) CB to RB our #3 presses (NC) RW
#4 Job and a half screening the (NC) CF and affecting CM.
#8 Ball side goalside of his man
#7 Inside box width in line with his man but in a position to transition
#2 to cover around once locked in one side
#5 Ball side goal side and a bit deeper expecting longer ball in the channel.
