Aim

To focus on structure of the defending team.

Objectives

1 1 vs 1 drills to start off marking practice

Break down the structure of a defending team and add in attacking team to work on movement 

Provide pressure on defending team in game by forcing quick attacks with time limits

Bib up group into 2 teams (yellow, red)

Light jog

Heads up to avoid hitting others

Call out movements/ stretches 

Lunge- Lunges

Side- Side-steps with a clap

Knee- High Knees

Heels- Heel Flicks

Cross- Cross steps

Technical Practice (10 mins)

Organizational / Instructions

Split group into pairs

1 ball between 2

Half a court

Coaching Points

1 with ball moves around court always facing partner

Partner must side-step to keep in front of them.

Stay on balls of feet while side-stepping

Hands up to block potential passes/ shots

Progressions / Adaptations

Move onto progression drill

One team around the semi-circle

other team faces partner

Focus on moving as a unit to close goal

attacking team passes around their team

defending team moves to add pressure to pass

Attempt interceptions of pass

Game Related Practice (10 mins)

Organizational / Instructions

One team starts at halfway

Other team spaces out around the goal semi-circle

Coaching Points

Yellow must communicate to keep box covered

Red must make 10 passes before attempting to shoot

Focus on intercepting

Swap defending team after each attack

Progressions / Adaptations

Increase pass count needed 15-20 (etc)

Add time limit to get pass count.

30 seconds to take shot after entering opponents half
