Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Capture the Balls - U10

Capture the Balls (15 mins)

Set Up: 

• Divide the players into two even groups. Start at home base.
• 10 balls are placed on the half way line.
• A small square is set up at both ends (home base). 
• Each player runs out to collect a ball. Once balls collected they are to be left at home base.
• Once all balls have been collected at half way players can go and collect balls from opposite group.
• Teams with the most balls at home base after the time has been completed are the winners.
• Field size 30 (L) x 20 (W).

Action: 

• While dribbling around the area, the bad wizards chase the good wizards.
• The bad wizards try to knock the good wizards ball out of the area by passing it. e.g., like playing pool.
• Players to switch roles after a certain time.

• The time of sets or size of the area can be adjusted to suit the needs and abilities of the players.
• With each turn try and beat your previous score.

Player Tips: 

• As Above.

Coaching Points:

• Correct running/dribbling with the ball and passing technique.
• Win the ball.
• Go for the steal.
• Protect your base.
• Plan as a team.

Session Timing:

• Complete 4 sets of 1.5 minutes with a 1 minute rest in between sets.
