Organisation (Practice Layout & Transition)
25x35 yard coned area set up
10 yard box in the centre of the coned out area , (flats used)
Two coaches in the session , will both intervene and lead parts of the session
Twelve players used in session , Will split into three teams of four , with bibs placed where players are required to start
Four players outside the area ,Eight inside the box inside the area
On the whistle players in side the area leave the grid and go find a pass from the ball serving players on the outside and return back into the grid , applying the first part of the mechanisms required for the drill i.e. eyes on ball , weight of pass
Interventions will be applied to assist individuals or groups as required
Ninety seconds of playing time
On the whistle players on the inside will swap with players on the outside, this is due to the high intensity of the drill , once all have gone a intervention of a water break ill be applied.
After the break the players will continue this time being asked to apply the same and additional mechanics to the drill i.e. back foot and body angle
In completion of the technical warm up and the transition from the technical drill to a skill we will remove the inner area and using the the same flats to create a centre line splitting the 25x35 yard pitch it in to two , playing width ways we will enter the a 2v2 skill drill , challenging the players with opposition
This will run for 15 minutes , with interventions and water breaks
For the last part of the session we will remove the centre line and open up the pitch fully , playing a 4v4 end zone game , one player either end and one player on either side creating the channel, we will monitor and swap teams in and out to maintain players welfare and too keep the levels high
45 minutes ball Rolling time from the 1hr session , interventions will be very important due to the physical demand of the session
Throughout the session we will be looking at the mechanics and intervening where required to demonstrate either through coach or player participation , the realism of the session is also a key area we will be implementing.
