SSG
Focus team (Red) in a 1-4-3-3. Missing fullbacks. 6 becomes GK= 1-2-3-3
Opposing team (Blue) in a 1-4-3-3 with no Wingers or 10.Adding 9 = 1-4-2-1
16 players total
Walkthrough to present SSG rules (1-2 mins)
- Adding a 9 for opposing team to press CB’s. Try totake 9 out of the play with a successful switch to opposite CB.
- Ask defending team to protect a lead again andremain compact as much as possible.
- Challenges / incentives for both groups:
In possession team receive a goal if they switch it fromchannel 1 to channel 5 and then get a shot on goal. 2 if they score.
Defending team score on big goal and get 2 goals if theyscore within 6 seconds.
Block 3 (3 mins): Apply previous solutions / coachingpoints within SSG context with added challenge?
Block 4 (3 mins): Check for understanding. Can youmake correct decision now based off what opposition give you?

Focus team (Red) in a 1-4-3-3. Missing fullbacks and a GK = 2-3-3
Opposing team (Blue) in a 1-4-3-3 with no Wingers 10 or 9 =1-4-2
15 players total
Walkthrough to present problem 1 (1-2 mins)
- Ask opposition back 4 and midfield 2 from to concentrateon remaining compact and limit ability of focus team to play through them centrally.(Challenge them to keep 10m distances maximum between players and between units, occupy only 3 channels when defending, they are 1-0 with 10 mins to play)
- Score in mini goals within 6 seconds if they winthe ball back.
PLAY Block 1 (3 mins)
- Allow solution 1 to organically develop as spacearound the outside should be obvious
Coaching Points:
- Full width on both sides of the field and occupyall 5 vertical channels when we have the ball
- Short passes to Ball circulation speed. Passingwith PURPOSE. Mechanics of receiving with open body shape and directional preptouch to allow to step in and play quickly off second touch. Passing empathy(How would you like to receive this ball?)
- Create and expose weakside opportunity. If opportunityto go forwards is there, go quickly. If not, recycle and switch again.
Block 2 (3 mins)
- Problem 2. Full-backs no longer sliding acrossand start to cheat out towards Wingers.
- Solution: Can we attack the half space they areleaving exposed?
Coaching Points
- Wingers roll inside to pin full-backs, CM canget higher / rotate out into wide area as CB steps in to overload
