Set-up
2 team of 6. The pitch has a central area with 1 attacking player and two defenders, all other players in one half. The ball starts with the GK, the play must go through the 9 area before a shot. When the play transfers to the other side, leave a 2v1 in the central zone.
Coaching Points
- No9 position yourself between the players. Have an open body, look to spin or set. Be unpredictable.
- Runs from deep, as the ball is played into the 9, wide players make runs inwards, towards the goal.
- One of the 8s supports the 9 when the ball is travelling to them.

Set Up Attack v Defence, with a wide area cut off. Offside is active. The attacking team are to the goal, defending team are trying to clear to halfway line.
Scenario 1 - The ball is played to 9 who is marked tight. 9 must hold the ball up and look for support from 8s. 11 and 7 make runs beyond 9, in between FBs and CBs. Non-receiving winger attacks back post. 9 attacks centrally. both 8s are inside the box. 6 covers the edge of the box.
Coaching Points
- 9 must be strong and bounce pass back, 1 touch if possible.
- Weight of pass is essential, be calm in the moment. Look where you want the ball to go.
- Supporting runners be behind the ball.

Scenario 2 - The ball is played to 7or11 in a wide area. 9 runs from a central area, behind the CB/FB. 7 makes a run to the back post, 8 to the front post, 8 to the central area close to the penalty. 11 offers support for 9 after the pass is made. 6 edge of the box.
Coaching Points
- 11/7 draw the FB towards you, creating more space for the 9 to run into.
- 9 times the run, stay onside and check your shoulder for supporting runs.
- Supporting runners be behind the ball, meet the ball as it comes into the box.

Scenario 3 - 8 carries the ball towards goal, 9 pulls wide, drawing the CB out, and the 8 makes a run in the space created by the 9. Wingers attack front and back posts. 9 supports 8 (with the ball). Spare 8 and 6 cover the box.
Coaching Points
- 9 must open body when looking to pass into 8, 1 touch if possible.
- Unbalance the oppo with movement, then exploit the space made with a thru ball. (Weight of pass is crucial)
- If the defender presses the 9, exploit the space created with a run into the space. If the defender doesn't press, 9 receives on the turn drives at the defenders, and looks for runs beyond from 8 and wingers.

- Spin the opposite way the ball is set.
- Finish low and hard.
