Organisation (Practice Layout & Transition)

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Setup:
Same as previous layout. Now use 4 footballs, one in each corner. Players run diagonally across the square and must go through the centre square to get to the other side. Eg - A runs to C and C to A. B runs to D and D to B. Players tasked to get across to the opposite corner under control and without crashing into the other obstructing players.
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
1. Challenge players to get across in a max number of touches or a max time to encourage moving at speed.
2. Regress by having 2 groups running instead of all 4 at once to reduce congestion.
Coaching Points
1. Head up and direction - run into space.
2. Get across quickly and under control.

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Setup:
Same as previous. Players to run to the cone furthest away diagonally opposite as shown via the labels, perform a turn and run with the ball back to the queue for the next player to go. Expansion on Skill 1, whereby players are on the ball longer in the congested area at the same time as others and have to get out of the middle quickly.
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
1. Can be made into a relay race.
2. Change the size of the centre square to make more or less congestion as players would be closer or further apart.
Coaching Points
All mechanics here as mentioned in technical and skill 1.

Setup:
40x40 with channels on each sides of the pitch. Easily adjustable dependent on age and ability.
Conditions: Team in possession can use the channels. Only 1 player from the team is allowed into the channel at any team. They can receive the ball or run into the channel. Once this happens, the defenders are also only allowed 1 player to defend in the channel. The defending player has to run in via the gate nearest their own goal. Players are encouraged to play wide and use the channels to run with the ball to attack.
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
1. Gate sizes can change
2. Centre get added to make it easier for the defending team. This can encourage a 1v1 in the channel.
Coaching Points:
1. Possession team use the width and advantage of channel.
2. Run with the ball using the laces.
3. Run and pick up speed.
4. Keep your head up looking for an option to pass or shoot.

Setup
40x40 square. 2 balls and 4 queues of 3 players. Balls start on opposite corners.
Players asked to run clockwise at speed with the ball to each corner, releasing the ball for the next player to run.
Adaptations (Progressions & Regressions):
1. Upon shouting change, players turn and run the other direction.
2. Progress by asking players to run to opposite corners - eg - A => C and B =>D. This will mean players run across each other and encourage getting the head up.
3. Challenge - can one ball catch up to the other?
Coaching Points
1. Push the ball out the feet to get across to the other side with low number of touches.
2. Use the laces as the contact on the ball.
3. Get into running stride
