Session #2 (BPO Defending against a counter attack)
Definition: To win the ball.
Moment/Phase: BP-BPO
A session to recap individual defending principles and to search for tactical solutions to the counter vs 2 forwards
Attacking > Defending
What: Win the ball against controlled possession or counter attack
When: When we lost the ball and receive counter attack from opposition.
Where: Mainly half way line to our defensive 18 yard.
Who: Primary - 5/6 (Dealing with two forwards), Secondary - 4/8/10 (cutting supply line), Tertiary - 9 (forcing a rushed ball)
Why: We are/were going attack and our defensive line is going to higher but if we lost the ball, we give big space behind us to opponent. That's why we need to react to win the ball asap and drop the backward to fill the spaces behind us.
Rationale - We played a team a month ago who played two forwards and they caused us problems through their directness
of their play so dealing with that is a great step to stop them from causing us as many problems next game.

1v1 Warm Up - Pressure Game in Pairs
Objective
Players to understand how to pressure aggressively
Players to know where to send players using body shape
How to Play
Opponent must stop this by forcing player out of area or winning ball back
2 minute bursts as this game is intense over the area
Coaching Points
Use body to protect, use body to get the ball away from defender
Every player to be aggressive and look to keep the ball as long as possible
Force them to the lines to take space away from them
Use body angle to force the direction of approach
