Topic- Overloads

Pillar- Technical

Time- 20 mins

Players12+1GK

Pitch Size- Using appropriate pitch markings for age groups. Station 1 & 4 are 5m each side of the goal and station 2 & 3 are 20m away from the goal opposite station 1 & 4

Principles of Play- Creating & exploiting overloads, Defending the Overload, Final third

Techniques- Passing, Defending, Shooting

How the practice works-

The Ball starts with the player at station 1. They dribble into the shaded area and leave the ball there. Once they leave the ball they need to run around the two mannequins. By the time the ball reaches the shaded area the player from station 4 needs to be there to play a pass to the player waiting at station 2 or 3.From there it becomes a 2v1 towards goal with the other defender running around the mannequin as a recovery defender to then make it a 2v2

once the practice finishes all players return to their station and the next group goes. After 4 mins all players move to the next station and it repeats.

Game model Att-

Anticipate the transition, play forward quickly, find the spare player

Game model Def-

Fast pressure on the ball, stop forward passes, force away from goal, recover quickly into Def shape, block central areas

Can the Att get to goal before the recovery defender gets back in to make an impact

can the Def in the 2v1 delay as much as possible to help out his recovery Def

Observations-

What Skills players use in overload situations

Can Def close space down to create 1v1away from goal rather then 2v1 towards goal

What the quality of pass is like in the drill build up- Good tempo & Ball speed
