Breaking Lines with a 3rd Runner (20 mins)

Starts with a 3 v 1 rondo. Red will start the rondo.

There is 1 red and 1 green playing offense/defense.

Red has to attempt 3 passes before passing to the other red player in the other box.

Once the pass is completed, 2 red will join for another 3 v 1 rondo.

If green takes the ball from a red who did not complete the pass, they will take that player's spot.

Things to focus on - speed of play, speed of passes, movement off and on the ball.

Breaking Lines - Implementing Rondos - 3 v 2 (20 mins)

The objective of the offense is to maintain possession of the ball and break lines.

The objective of the defense is to take the ball away, cut off passing lanes and quick transitions into offense.

Offense will need to complete 3 passes before the break the line. The offense will have to pass it to the next offensive player to move ahead.

Only 2 offensive players will move on. They will repeat this to get to the final third.

If defense takes the ball away, now they will become the offense and attack. They will break lines, completing 3 passes. (Same as above).

2 teams work together against the 2 other players.

When one team loses the ball, then its a quick transition into 4 v 2.

The focus is on quick play. It is a whirl wind because of the high pressure, similar to how a game is played.

Focus on movement off the ball, creativity and spatial awareness.

Rondo Build Up from the mid Field (25 mins)

Real-life play. 50 yards of mid field build up/field divided into 3 zones.

Offense focuses on ball movement, movement on and off the ball, and breaking lines.

Defense focuses on pressure and movement.

Zone 1: 3v1 - unlimited passes with the goal to break the lines and move into Zone 2.

Zone 2:  This player's purpose is to serve as a bumper. Passing back to offense in zone 1 to make a long pass to zone 3.

Zone 3: These players need to move quickly as defense will defend with high pressure, and in the final zoe then to take a shot on the GK.
