Title: 1v1 Four Goal Game - 20 minutes
Aim: Put players in a setting where they're getting competitive, directional 1v1 reps where finding the highest free player is the action for success.
Notes: Two grids in second session in the North.
Organization / Activity Players aim is to beat the opponent in the 1v1 and successfully connect with team mate in the gate, the player receiving the ball then repeats the exercise making the activity continuous. If opponent wins the ball the ball, they 'pass out' and connect with a team mate in the gate and the activity continues. 15X15 area. 6 minute rounds 1:30 minute rest. Coaches can use cones if they don't have access to poles.
Plan for failure / Coaching script:
- Players will fail to recognize they can connect with 'highest free player' Discuss how being aware / lifting your head you can see if / when opponent is out of position in order to connect / create.
- Players will fail to recognize when their opponent is 'square' - Demo what this looks like and discuss why this is a good time for a change of pace / direction
- Players will fail to dribble at the opponent and will instead head towards the sideline - discuss the lack of space / options that gives you as an attacker.
Progression: Make it 2v2 in the middle grid.

Warm Up / Technical Relay Race
Title: Warm up (5 minutes) & Technical Work (10 minutes)
Aim: Get players physically & mentally ready for the session / working week.
Organization / Activity: Players work in teams in technical relay race. Attempt to keep groups of 3/4 based on your numbers.
Round One : Players take two touches, left their head, then punch a pass through the box to team mate, player then sprints after the ball, stops two yards away from cone. Player receiving picks the ball up and throws ball (under arm) in the air so player can volley with the inside of their foot back into the throwers hands. Once each side. on the final throw, the thrower then controls ball, gets it down and connects through the box and follows pass.
Round Two: Same direction & player actions. This round, half volleys. Demo throw and half volley technique.
Round Three: Same direction & player actions. This round, cushioned headers.
Round Four: (Seen in diagram) Players dribble into box, perform skill to explode out of area, they then connect with team mate who takes touch with front foot around the cone to pass through the box. Players follow their pass and repeat actions. Twice round each player. 3-4 players per group.
Round Five: Same pattern and player actions, however players are now going to their left outside the box. Changes front foot of receiving player.
Keep Score! Everything we do must have a competitive spirit.
Notes: PM attendance 9:00 AM Monday Deadline. All teams.
