THE SESSION: 1v1 End Zone
Set Up: 8x16
Three lanes, each lane has a end zone
Each lane has one defender who prevents attacker from reaching the end zone
Each lane is a different league, if the attacker reaches the end zone they get promoted
If the defender wins the ball back they get one point and the attacker gets relegated
Play for one minute then change the defender
Key Messages:
Defenders:
Protect the zone
Press high up the field
Four Ds of defending - Delay, Deny, Deflect, Destroy
Show attacker of the field

THE SESSION: 1v1 Defending
Set Up: 16x16
Red players attack the blue team and try to cross the line to gain a point
When they get to the line the red player waiting attacks the opposite line
The ball must be under control when crossing the line
The player in the middle can only come out when they have won the ball back.
When the blue team win it back the reds will defend and so on
Progressions:
1 point when cross the line, 2 points if win the ball and counter to the line
Key Messages:
Body Position
Angle of approach
Delay
Identify opportunity to win the ball
Counter when in possession

THE SESSION: Defending 1v2
Set Up: 12x16 x 2
Two blue players at the top end start with the ball
As soon as they enter the field the one red defender goes to put pressure on them
Blues look to score in the mini goal
Red defender looks to dribble ball acorss end line for a point
Three minutes then rotate
Key Messages:
Press as high up the pitch as possible
Don't get two close to the player on the ball
Deny player on the ball opportunity to take a shot or pass to team mate (stand between the two players)
Look for moments to destroy: head up, heavy touch, bad pass, shape to shoot
Drive forward after regaining possession
Competitions:
Team with the most points

THE SESSION: Recovering Defenders
Set Up: 18x24 x 2
Three attackers and one defender on the field with one defender in the end zone
Coach playing the ball into one of the three attackers
Once the attacker takes his first touch the defender in the end zone can track back
Blues look to score in the small goal and if reds win the ball back they try to get the ball into the end zone
New players enter the field after every ball - one attacker leaves and one joins
Defenders rotate roles - Defender A goes to C and rest, defender B becomes defender A and defender C becomes defender B
Change over roles every couple of minutes
Key Messages:
Delay and predict
Deflect away from goal
Deny passes - cut off other players
Destroy once 2v3
Don't always recover to the ball - where is the space for defenders to exploit
Quick transition into end zone
Progressions:
Flip so reds attack 1v2 with two recovering defenders
Competition:
Defending pair with the most end zone goals

THE SESSION: Breaking Line Possession:
Set Up: 24x24
Two teams of eight spilt into two groups of four
Team A move ball within their area to correct oppertunity to play ball to team B
Team C must shuffle as a unit to prevent ball being transfer, one player can put pressure but not allowed to enter the zone
If C win the ball they try to play to team D with the B team defending
Swap lines over every three minutes
Key Messages:
Stay compact as a unit
Slide as a unit
Who puts pressure on the ball
Communicate who needs to press
What is my duty when a teammate presses
Progressions:
Defenders can enter the attacking areas to put pressure on

THE SESSION: Shadow Play (Sliding Unit) - SSG
Set Up:
Ball with starts blue CB
He plays ball into wide zone
Blues set up 3-2-3 and reds 1-2-4-2 diamond
Blues start with either wide defender or wide attacker
2 press and block wide pass
9 press from behind
8 press from side
Key Messages:
Press with 2/3 players
Compact diamond with no gaps to play through
Slide as ball is switched and reset
Notice pressing triggers
Challenges:
Once into SSG, win ball back high and score in mini goals
