3) Highlight dribbling mechanics where appropriate

Organisation
- 4 Mini goals
- Cones
- 3 players in each queue
- One football each
Description
- Normal relay games with players having to complete certain activities/turns/scoring before returing to their group.
- The team that completed the turns the fastest and sit down first are awarded a point. Points are also given out to a team who completed the skill the best (e.g., drag back)
- Lots of demos to be completed to paint the picture of how it should look for each relay.
Relay 1/2/3 - Physical Literacy. 1) Players are required to bunny hop on both feet to the orange middle cone before returning to their group. 2) Players are required to hop on their right foot 3) Players are required to hop on their left foot. (This can be adapted to however you feel is appropriate).
Relay 4/5/6 - Players will now be asked to execute a specific turn before scoring in the mini-goals. 4) drag back. Players will complete a drag back at the central cone (defender) turn towards the start and complete another drag back before scoring in mini-goal.
5) Players will complete a step over (either single or double) before scoring (don't turn back to own group)
6) Players will complete a rollover before scoring.
Relays 7/8 - Players in their groups will now be asked to come together in their groups to decide what skills they will now use for the final two rounds. Can be a skill we haven't used in the relays. Ask players to think about what skills will allow them to go forwards quickly.
Throughout the relays, I will ask players to share their team score with me as opposed to asking them to shout it out to the group. This will encourage them to try and beat their own PB.
Technical/tactical
- Technical detail of certain 1v1 moves
- Dribbling Mechanics
- How to jump by using your arms for greater distance during the physical literacy relays.
Psychological
- Giving praise to teammates
- Executing new skills
Social
- Teamwork
- Encouraging others
- Decision making as a group what skills you will use in the final relays
Physical
- Hitting different physical literacy components (locomotor - jumping and hopping for distance on either foot)
- Agility to change direction when completing 1v1 moves
- Accelerations/de-acceleration

Organisation
- 4 mini goals
- 12 players split into two teams but can be adapted
- Cones used to show players their starting position
- Extra footballs placed by team feeding ball into opposition for quick restarts
- Area size 16 x 16
Description
- Blue team will start as defenders and all the footballs
- Red team will be the attackers
- There will be two 1v1's going on at the same time with one pair playing North to South whilst the other pair plays East to West as shown above.
- Blues will feed the ball into the red attacker's attacker who must try to score into the blue players goal.
- If the blues steal the ball they can score in the opposite red team's goal.
- If the ball is dribbled out/shot wide the game is over and the next 1v1 begins.
- Players keep their own score for every round.
Technical/Tactical
- Use of 1v1 moves = When? Why? What?
- Eyes up
- Do a trick and go quick (3 F's)
- Dribbling mechanics if appropriate
- Can the defenders close the ball down quickly after passing it? (Fast, slow, low). Don't give the attackers space and time to decide what trick to use on you.
Psychological
- Reward players for trying new skills we might have practised in the session so far
- How do we react if we lost the ball?
Social
- ask players to huddle up in their groups and come up with a new move they all have to try for the next phase of attacks
- Challenge the players passing the ball into the attackers to put a name on the pass? See which team can communicate the best.
Physical
- Changes of direction
- Acceleration/Deaccleration
- How do we use our body if we have to hide the ball?
Progressions
- Rotate one group around so that players get to play against everyone (if appropriate)
- If players complete a skill before scoring they earn 5 points for their team
Regressions
- Rather than the blues pass the ball the reds can just start with it to initiate the attack.

Organisation
- 16 x 32 pitch (x2; Main pitches)
- 12x12 pitch (x2; 1v1 showdown pitches)
- 6 mini goals
- Extra footballs located next to each pitch for fast restarts
- 2 teams split as they were earlier for easy transition
Description
- 2 SSG's going on at the same time. (3v3/4v4)
- One pitch you score by dribbling and stopping the ball inside the end zone
- The other pitch is a normal 3v3
- If a player scores a goal they get to choose a player who they play 1v1 with on the showdown pitch. The game will last 1-minute maximum or until a goal is scored.
- This will reduce the number of players on the main pitch and hopefully create greater amounts of 1v1 situations
- Games will last 8-10 minutes before swapping the opponents.
