Football/Soccer Session (Academy Sessions): Pre Travel 1st Grade Session: Passing Technique

Gotcha Ghosts!

Instructions:

The players are in GhostBuster Training School, that means they need to practice how to catch a ghost! The best way to catch a ghost is with your ghostblaster (soccer ball). However, to catch a ghost the player must pass (inside push pass) to hit their target.

The players are training to catch real ghosts, but for now, they must pass the ball into the other trainees ghostblasters (soccer balls) for 1 pts.

Any great Ghostbuster knows that must yell, 'Gotcha' when they catch a ghost.

Help them graduate from GhostBuster school!

Coaching Points:

- Inside push pass

- Pass where you think they are going to be, not where they currently are (if they are moving)

Small Triangles Scattered Throughout Field

Instructions:

- Remove Taggers

- All Free Players Have A Ball At Feet

- Players Are Stuck In Their Triangle Safe Zones until they are given a pass from a 'Free' Teammate

- Players Are Trying To Get As Many Passes To A Teammate As They Can In An Allotted Time

Coaching Points/Questions:

- Inside Push Pass Technique

- Eye Contact (body cue) - Verbal Cue (Say Their Name)

- 1st Touch Into Space

- Be On Toes & Ready To Go

Regressions/Progressions:

- Add Defenders

- Add A Touch Restriction Between Passes

Numbers Game

Organization:

Targets Lining The Goal Lines (Tall Cone or Disc Cone + Ball)

Instructions:

- Teams are split up evenly & stand behind their pointed cones (If you do not have pointed cones, place balls ontop of a disc cone so it creates a target for players to knock off the cone)

- Each player is given a number

- When number is called players run out to a ball played into the middle and try to either knock the ball/cone over or until it goes out of the designated boundaries.

- The team that successfully elimates the other teams targets first - wins
