Set Up
Size depends on numbers - can stretch or shrink the grid accordingly
2 pug goals set up on ends of the grid (put ~3-5 yards in-between the end line of the grid to the goal)
Objective
The objective of the activity is for the defenders (team in middle) to work together to win the ball. Watch the animation to see what it looks like.
Defending team can send 2 players into the attacking team's grid to create a 5v2.
Defenders are trying to win the ball and score on the pug goal as fast as possible
If attacking team (white) can play across to other attacking team (black), the defending team sends 2 new players to win the ball from black to create a 5v2 in other end of the grid.
Options
-Create a transition game - if blues (defenders) win the ball from white, white becomes the new defending team in the middle and blue replaces the white team in the left side of the grid (if you lose the ball, you become the new defenders)
-Keep defending team in for 2 minutes and rotate who is defending so every team gets an even amount of time

Set up
20x20 yards
2v2 inside grid
Coach restarts the ball with team who did not kick the ball out of bounds (ex. if it goes out off of white, it is blue ball)
Objective
Blue is trying to play to blue teammates on opposite side of grid. When receiving a pass from a player inside of square, encourage them to check off the shoulder of the mannequin to receive the ball.
Player exits the grid when they play to the teammate in the line, player who receives the ball enters grid to maintain a 2v2
~3x 2-3 minutes games

SET UP:
40x25 (depending on numbers)
Up to 12 players, in 2 teams; 1 goalkeeper per team.
Team 1 starts as the attackers, with 3 players on the field. Team 2 starts as the defenders, with 2 players at the top of the penalty area, and 2 support players positioned wide at the halfway mark. Relief (extra) players wait behind their team’s goal.
INSTRUCTIONS:
• “Go!” – the Team 2 goalkeeper serves the ball to the Team 1 attackers, who dribble and pass the ball up the field and try to score.
• If Team 2 defenders win the ball, the 2 wide support players can join them as they try to score on Team 1’s goal, creating a 4 v 3 situation.
• “Switch!” – rotate players frequently, and restart the game with new attackers and defenders.
OPTIONS:
• Introduce a time restriction, so that attackers must shoot on goal within 10 seconds of gaining possession of the ball.
If the transition is too difficult, have all of the balls with the coach and alternate which team you pass to.

1v1 Warm-Up
Set up
Make several 10x10 grids (You can use the sideline and put cones every 10 yards FOR EX: 6 cones for 2 grids). It's not necessary to have space in between 10x10 grids
2 players per grid
Keep balls and attacking players on the sideline.
Defenders are on the other end of 10 yard box
Objective
Defenders must start on endline
When attacker enters the grid with a ball, the defender is free to leave the end-line to defend
1:30-2 minute rounds for the attacking player to continuously try to dribble over attackers end-line.
Attackers get a point every time they can dribble across defenders end-line and stop the ball. Defenders get a point if they win the ball and dribble over attackers end-line.
Attackers start with ball every time. Rotate rolls after the allotted time.
COACHING POINTS
1. CLOSE DOWN 2. SLOW DOWN. 3. SHOW THEM ONE WAY
The defender must close down the space between them and the attacker with the ball. The defender must slow down before they reach the attacker to ensure the attacker remains in front of the defender. Lastly, as the defender is approaching, they must angle their body to show the attacker which way the defender is forcing them. After the approach, patience is key - waiting from a moment to tackle or win the ball from the defender.
