Set up

  • As shown above
  • Balls and tennis balls with coach
  • Tennis ball
Instructions
  • Drill 1 (hurdles): players to move through hurdles > receive volley from coach. Perform lateral, two-footed and single-footed movements through hurdles. Repeat each three times with rest in between. When done, clear hurdles away
  • Drill 2 (footwork): players to move through cones > receive volley from coach. Perform lateral, vertical and diagonal movements through cones
  • Drill 3 (passing): players to move through cones > receive pass from coach and other player, if available. Perform lateral, vertical and diagonal movements through cones. Passes in one and two touches. Remove bottom two red cones
  • Drill 4 (coloured cones): coach shouts cone colour > player moves to that cone and back to centre to receive volley from coach. When coach shouts 'go', player moves to receive shot from right > then centre > then left (depending on how many supporting players there are)
  • Drill 5 (coloured cones and tennis balls): coach shouts cone colour > player moves to that cone, places tennis ball on cone then back to centre to receive volley from coach. When coach shouts 'go', player moves to receive shot from right > then centre > then left (depending on how many supporting players there are)
  • Drill 6 (agility): player starts on post before moving out to touch cone on six-yard line on coach instruction > moves back to make near post save > moves to centre to touch left cone on goal line before shot > up quickly to move to right cone before shot
  • Drill 7 (agility and distribution): touch left cone before saving shot > touch right cone before saving shot > collect high ball before passing into left mini goal or player > collect high ball before passing into right mini goal or player
