  • In teams of 3 across three pitches. 
  • Players must pass ball into pitch divider for goal to be scored.
  • Every team to play each other.

Areas of Focus

  • Movement off ball.
  • Reducing turnovers.
  • Execution of 'basics'.

Half Pitch Hockey

Turn & Burn Hockey

  • Split the group into teams of 5. Two teams to play per pitch.
  • On each pitch, one team will attack and the other will defend. 
  • The attacking team are trying to score and the defending team are trying to gain possession and get the ball over the centre line under control.
  • If the attacking team score, they attack again starting from the centre line. If the defending team get the ball over the halfway line, they then swap roles with the other team and attack on goal.

  • Communication within teams.
  • How to organise and re-organise.
  • Execution of basics.

This is a great opportunity to work on PCA and PCD ahead of the season - HLE to take Y7s and FNO to take Y8s. 

Teams to practice the following variations:

1 - Straight Strike

2 - Slip Left 

3 - Back Post Deflection

4 - Back to Injector


Pupils should perform each part of both attacking and defending corners. 

Encourage GKs to take charge of PCD units.
