2) Sprints:

9 reps of 30 meter sprint, 3 meters to stop

30 seconds rest between sprints

A) 4v1:

Rules:

MUST receive ball with foot that is farthest from passer (open body position).

MUST create angle by sliding to nearest cone.

MUST play 2 touch.

MUST say name of who you are passing to.

B) 4v1+1:

After 3 passes, second defender comes in.

Relax restrictions.

C) 3v1+1:

After 3 passes, second defender comes in.

2 teams of 8

2 grids of 25x15

Activity:

Team of 5 tries to complete 10 passes for a goal.

Defensive team tries to win ball and score in counter goal.

Coaching Points:

~ Create a U shape across back line with #6 acting as pivot

~ Look to skip a player when moving ball across field (faster)

~ Try play with a 2-touch rhythm

~ Quickly transitioning to immediate pressure when losing ball

1/3 of field with gates

1-4-3 vs. 2-3

Activity:

#8 and #10 are stuck on endline to start.

Ball starts with GK (goal kick and in hands). Also start ball with throw-in close to endline.

Attackers score through gates/puggs.

Defenders score in big goal.

Progressions:

+ Add more defenders (build to 8v6)

Coaching Points:

+ Face the field

+ Receive far foot

+ Look for numerical advantage (at least 2v1)

+ Use GK as support

+ Score as soon as possible or break as many lines as possible

Setup:

Half field

Defending team GK + back four + #6 + #8

Attacking team in 2-3

#10 vs attacking team's #4 & #5

Activity:

GK to begin play where team tries to build out of back to score in gates. Attacking team limited to 2 touches.

Attacking scores in 2 small goals OR by getting outside back across line.

Defending team scores in big goal.

Coaching Points:

~ Check shoulder as ball travels

~ Look down field first, then short

~ Look to skip a line when passing

~ #1 moving to support play side to side
