Aim: To introduce and build an understanding of the 1,2 footwork technique in netball.
Objective 1: Repetition of the 1,2 footwork movement. allows the technique to become more familiar and gradually easier.
Objective 2: Progressive drills allow the participant to go from performing 1,2 on the spot to performing 1,2 when moving.
Objective 3: Drip feeding coaching points helps the participant to remember their key movements in their 1,2 footwork and pivots.
Equipment: 14 netballs size 5, 14 bibs of the same color, 46 cones of the same color, whistle, watch and stop watch.
Venue: 120 Sandwood Road, Glasgow G52 2QY
Clients: 24 children, primary 3 at beginner level.

Organizational / Instructions
In partners with 1 ball.
Partner 1 throws ball up for their partner.
Partner 2 jumps to receive the ball using the 1,2 footwork.
Partners should take turns each at feeding the ball.
Coaching Points
Use 1,2 footwork.
Keep knees bent.
Feet flat.
Bend your hips.
Use clock technique if progressed to pivot.
Progressions / Adaptations
When caught the ball perform a pivot before feeding the ball back.

Organisational / Instructions
In 3 groups of 8.
Separate into two lines in groups with a feeder.
One person runs forward to receive the ball from the feeder.
Ball must be fed from a high point.
So the person must jump at the highest point and receive the ball landing 1,2.
Once received the ball pass to the person in front.
Join the end of the line.
Every 3/4 passes rotate the feeder.
Coaching Points
Use 1,2 footwork.
Keep knees bent.
Feet flat.
Bend your hips.
Stretch straight up when receiving the ball and jump to the highest point.
Use clock technique if progressed to pivot.
Progressions / Adaptations
Add in a pivot.
Add in defender.

Organisational / Instructions
End zones.
In 2 teams with 2 players in the end zones.
To win a point the ball must be received in the end zone with feet doing 1,2.
Players cannot move with the ball.
If a player moves with the ball, the ball goes to opposition.

Feet flat.
Bend your hips.
Stretch straight up when receiving the ball and jump to the highest point.

this allows the heart rate to lower in a effiient way
bring into a circle for static stretches.
circle shoulders/arms, wrists, hips, ankles.
Stetch arms but dont push elbow joint.
Lunges to stretch gluets,hamstrings and quads.
Coaching Points
listen carefully to coach.
look out for space scan the area.
stay in the first two quarters
Stretches:
Place arm above or below the elbow joint.

2 catchers wearing bibs, run around and try to catch people.
Once caught they must jump up and down until someone passes an imaginary ball to them.
To become free the person must catch the imaginary ball and do a 1,2 step with their feet.
