This drill will help players to develop their weak foot. They will start on the side of their weak foot. For example if they are left footed they will start on the left and if they are right footed they will start on the right. Therefore they will be running onto the ball on their weak foot and will be forced to use it. There will be two teams of 5 and the team who scores the most goals will win and the other team will be on a punishment.
To progress this drill i could increase the distance that the players are shooting from which forces them to generate more power whilst also keeping the shot accurate.
Coaching points - Connection on the ball
Accuracy over power
Technique
Use the correct part of the foot based on where you shoot from - For example if you are inside the box it may be placed with the inside of the foot, if you are outside the box it may need to be with the laces for more power.

This drill will be a small sided 5v5 game where the players will play as though it is a normal game where players will get two goals if it is scored with their weaker foot. This gives them an insentive to try and use it to score with it. The game will be a first to 15 so by scoring with your weak foot it will help you get their much quicker.
To progress this i could limit players to three touches if they aren't passing enough and giving the opportunity for others to get involved and develop their weak foot as well. I could also make the pitch smaller so that more shots are had and it gives the players more opportunities to practice

Warm up
S
This session is focused on improving the players ability to shoot with their weak foot. The aim is to help them become more confident and effective when finishing with their non-dominant foot from different positions around the box.
M
Progress will be measured by the accuracy of shots taken with the weak foot the number of goals scored and how consistently the player can use it during drills.
A
The target is achievable because the drills match the players current level and will gradually increase in difficulty as their weak foot technique and confidence improve.
R
Weak foot shooting is important for their role because it allows them to be more unpredictable and effective in front of goal, especially in situations where their dominant foot is not an option.
T
This goal will be developed over a six week period. Early improvements should appear within the first few sessions with clear progress expected by the end of the programme.
For the warm up players will do two laps of the pitch, followed by some dynamic stretches to loosen the muscles. This will then build up into short and sharp sprints to prime the bigger muscles such as hamstrings, calves and quadriceps for their running.
