Warm up game

Essence:

- Elevate heart rate and get the players used to stick and ball whilst working on 1v1 skills.

Structure:

- The players both stand on the 25 with the ball in the middle.

- The players with both feet jump either side of the line 10x.

- After 10 they sprint either to the baseline or the halfway line and back. Then they play a 1v1 to either line. (baseline or halfway line)

Press and outletting

Essence:

- Get the basic outlines of a press and figure out differing ways to outlet.

Structure:

- We set up the wing press. looking for the central forward to be on or around the 25. The left and right forward should be in-between the centre and half back. Not to high as we want to force the ball out wide. The midfielders, tow of them should be in-between the centre and left/right forward. The deeper mid is behind standing in the middle of them.

- When the defence are out-letting the ball to the halfbacks, we look to press and be aggressive. Wherein, the left forward puts direct pressure on. The centre forward in this case would cut of the ball back to the other centre half (stopping a full transfer.) Moreover, the rest of the team shift across and fill in the gaps.

- The same goes for if it goes to the other side.

Technical Points:

- When pressing, it is key that we move as a unit. Fluid and able to work together to win an outcome.

- When we win the ball, we need to work hard to get ahead and create goal scoring opportunities.

Defensively:

- When out-letting, transfer the ball at good pace and pre-scan to find a pass. For the midfielders, its important not to start to close to the defenders. The resultant effect being that we pull the midfielders closer and therefore, put us under increasing pressure.

- Start high and lead into the space. You can pick up the ball and drop it off again or pass to the halfback.

- Also really important that the defenders re-adjust their positions after passing the ball. Whether this takes place as the centre half who drops to make themselves available again. Work as a unit to create successful outlets.

Questions to ask:

- Do we step and be aggressive from the outset? Do we be patient and wait for the right opportunity?

- When do we give the ball when out-letting, can we move forward with the ball ourselves?

Press attack (1s)

Essence:

- Work on the press through 2v1's to create a turnover and a goal scoring opportunity.

Structure:

- A or B passes to defender 1, who will try to dribble the ball over the 25 yard line.

- A & B press and try to win the ball and attack the circle.

- Defender 2 in the middle can join in to create a 2v2 etc. if defender 1 gets dispossessed of the ball.

Technical Points:

- Work on pressing together aggressively and putting the pressure on the defender to create a turnover.

Shooting consistency

Essence:

- Work on hitting with the aim of improving accuracy and consistency.

Structure:

- A player picks up the ball and at match pace takes it to the top of the circle and has a shot.

- If the shot is not on target or lacks power to be deemed a good shot. they have to sprint to the yellow cone.

Attacking the circle under pressure

Essence:

- Work on attacking the circle in a 2v1 situation whilst under pressure.

Structure:

- 1 is a pass to the other forward who will drop it off back for the run by the attacker.

- After the drop of pass the defender becomes active and begins to put pressure on the player. That is the number 2

- The player who drops the ball of will make a lead and try to get the ball. (Doesn't have to happen, gives the attacker more options.)

- If 3 does happen, make a lead for a deflection.

Technical Points:

- When you give a ball its important that you re-position yourself quickly into a passing position.

- Decision making is important, do you attack the defender in hopes of eliminating him to take a shot; or do you play around him creating a 2v1.

- If there is time in the circle to take a shot, do so.
