Reactions warm up followed by transition game

See the guidance at the top of this page to understand why you are not seeing interactive Football/Soccer images.
Transition Game. Mark out two goals, half way line, from half way line pitch slants towards the goal, look slike a diamond shape. This is to encourage going for goal in stead of running donw the wings and crossing. Transition game is to see how quick players can go from winning the ball in defence to playing forward and scoring.
Conditions - Only have 5 seconds to cross half way line. Can only score in opposing teams half. If attacking team lose the ball, how quickly can attacking team retreat and defend. If you want to increase intensity, give attcaking team 5 seconds to shoot once in opposing teams half.
Game is all about reactions, speed of play.
Coaching points - when team wins the ball, how many players move forward quickly, whilst keeping some form of defence in play. Can they move forward in to space to receive pass.Create width and then look for through ball. We are looking for an overload of attacking players against defenders to have more chance to create chances. Can we create a 3 v 2 or 4 v 3 overload in attacking advantage. Can we look to play forward first, if not play wide.
This game requires fitness, so may want to play for 10mins, then have rest and talk to players on what they can improve on in game, before resuming.

Start session by getting them to run on spot, when you say right they turn 90 degrees right and continue running. Vary it by turning left or right again etc. Working on there fitness agility to run on the spot and co-ordinate left and right while doing that.
Once warmed up, use red and white cones. Both players face each other, get them to quick step run on spot, then call a colour, if colour is red, player in blue just needs to tag his opposing player, as player in red turns and runs to the red cone. If you call white player in blue has to turn and run to the white cone while red player tries to tag player in blue. You can play this side on if not facing each other.
If you want to really confuse the players, then cones are opposites, red cone is white and white cone is red. See how players take in the change and adapt. Good fun.
