Warm Up - passing/receiving (15 mins)

Objectives:  Warm up with high repetition passing, moving and receiving.

Instructions:  Groups of 4 players, two balls.  Player A passes to Player B, Player C passes to Player D.  Receiving player opens body to receive and pass back to player.  They switch, Player C will pass to Player B and Player A will pass to Player D.  Rotate after 2 minutes.  Progression - collect and turn.

Time/Rest:  2 minutes work, 30 seconds rest.  Total time 15 minutes.

Emphasis:  Body position, firm passes, tight collections.

Functional Passing Patterns with Crossing/Finishing (30 mins)

Objective:  Functional position with crossing and finishing.

Instructions:  Half field, players in positions with full size goal and goalkeeper.  The 4 or 5 will begin by passing diagonally to either the 6 or 8.  6 or 8 passes to the 3 or 2.  3 or 2 plays back to the 4 or 5.  4 or 5 plays to the 11 or 7 down the line.  7 or 11 crosses to the 10 and 8 or 6.  Ex.  4 to 8, 8 to 2, 2 to 5, 5 to 7, 7 crosses to 10/8.

Time/Rest:  10 minutes work, 1 minute rest.  20-30 minutes.

Emphasis:  Body position, using both feet, two or one touch, crosses finding attackers, finishing.

6v6 Game (30 mins)

Objective:  Apply functional passing patterns to 5v5 or 6v6 game.

Instructions:  Play 5v5 or 6v6.

Time/Rest:  Play till a goal is scored and add a new team in or work for 10 minutes, 1 minute rest.  Total time 30 minutes.

Emphasis:  1 and 2 touch using patterns of play.  Body position, firm passes, crossing and finishing.
