Objective: Beat the 1st line of confrontation, score a goal.
Organization: Start out 6v3. No touch limit. Rotate defending players frequently. Have assistant coach work on passing technique.
Progression: Add more defending players. Change touch limits to attackers to 2. Allow a free playing game. Setup for corners if ball goes out the end-line.
Coaching Points: Entire squad is connected and must create passing lanes by moving to proper angle and distance off shoulder of defender. Maintain possession with quick speed of play (1-2 touches)
GK: Option 1: GK or DEF play a long ball - must get behind 1st confrontation line. Option 2: Play short, build from back. If Defender plays ball back, send it long (SSL). Advance GKs can switch.
4/5 - Look to play full back, then Def Mid, then GK or send it long.
8/6/2/3 - Stand in gaps between and behind defenders.
2/3 - Look to play ball back to 4/5 or combine with 8/6.

4-3-3 vs a 4-4-2
Objective: Identify and execute the safest method to beat the defense.
Setup: Half field with 3 puggoals positioned along midline.
Why is this important? Its an easy goal for the opp. Draw in opponent so we can get behindtheir lines and exploit space to attack. This is HARD.
Teaching Points (low press): This is our preferred option going forward.
1. Pass to the front footif possible
2. Engage a defenderbefore you pass (take space)
3. Diagonal passes
4. When in trouble: GKdrop, long pass / clear it.
Teaching Points (high press): Always line up the same. If the opponent is in a high press, tryto play the ball through / over their confrontation line.
1. GK must play ball to asafe space where receiver can shield / be first to.
2. Receiver must be “firstto” the ball (shield or check-to). Always assume that defender islooking to “step-to”.
3. CBs must tuck inimmediately.
Walk through:Position entire team. Have remaining players play a high press and low press.Have each GK practice a few GKs and play to pug goals with few defenders.
Play: Create 2 teams. Positionplayers. Add 2 players from opp. team. Play out from back. Continue to adddefenders until both teams are on field.
Coaching Points: Incorporate “Teaching points”. After pass, GK shouldstep out just beyond the 6 to receive a pass-back. Movement off ball to createa passing lane is critical (be off shoulder of defender). After eachpass move to space with a body angle to receive on front foot. Look topass behind defender. Once the confrontation line is broken, use diagonalpasses to quickly advance the ball. Switches through the middle are encouraged.
